Shelley is an interior designer who is getting quite popular in the business. The clients who were rich and famous loved the works that this woman realized it was time to get a bigger place.

The studio apartment was quite far from the city so getting a place that was much closer seemed to be the logical thing to do to get more business. Finding a place seemed easy since money wasn’t going to be an issue. The only problem was Shelley had a pet Labrador that was already 3 years old.

The woman realized that there were not that many apartments in the city that were pet friendly. Even if these places claim it is, there were those that didn’t favor big dogs.

So, the first place Shelley looked was the veterinary clinic where the dog regularly visits for checkups. There was a bulletin board that mentioned a few places. To be sure there were other prospects, the interior designer decided to ask the people working at the animal shelter and browsing around in the Internet.

Shelley called these places one by one and scheduled an appointment with the landlords. Each of these places gave competitive rates and the best of all; it was very close to the park, the grocery and the office.

There were two other things that Shelley loved about this place. The crime rate in that part of the city was low given that the police had personnel walking and driving around the block. The second was the people were friendly to the neighbors and to those that walked around.

When the topic of having a pet came into the conversation, many were not happy to hear that it was a big dog. Shelley noticed a change in the tone of some while others were trying to keep an open mind about it.

Mr. Carlson who has been taking care of the apartments for many years decided to give Shelley and the dog a chance. There was just one catch though and that this woman had to show proof that the animal wont do any damage or injury to those who lived in the apartment.

Shelley happily presented a certificate from a dog obedience school, which meant the animal was toilet trained. Another document brought out showed a good letter of recommendation from a previous landlord in the outskirts of the city.

With these two documents in hand, Mr. Carlson was happy to welcome both Shelley and the dog to the apartment. Some other details have to be worked on before any deal can be made.

This included paying for an additional deposit for the dog aside from the one for security. This meant shelling out a little extra aside from the 3 months advance in rent that should be given once the contract has been signed.

After inspecting the place and checking a few more in the neighborhood, Shelley decided to move in to the apartment offered by Mr. Carlson. Some minor retouches needed to be done to make the place feel like the old place a few miles out of town.

The task of looking for an apartment that is pet friendly takes time. People can follow Shelley’s example of knowing where to look and having the proper documents in order will surely make the job a little bit easier.
